Educational and Professional Background

A native of Germany, I have a degree equivalent to a master's degree in Applied Linguistics: Translation and Interpretation from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

I am also ATA-certified (CT) for English > German translations and IHK-certified for English <> German translations (IHK = German Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

After graduating from the University of Heidelberg and then spending a year as a German teaching assistant at Bucknell University (PA, USA) on a full scholarship of the University of Heidelberg, I was hired as an in-house translator and interpreter at Alcatel SEL AG – now Alcatel-Lucent – in Stuttgart, Germany, where I was part of their translation team for 10 years, acquiring a solid technical background in telecommunications, IT, electronics and related areas.

When starting my own business in 1996, I also specialized in software localization and have translated millions of words in this specialty until present.

Since 2003 I have been a grader of translation exams for a professional association (name to be kept confidential) and am now also a grader for the ATA certification exam.

As I had been getting more and more inquiries for medical translations, I decided to expand my specialties to the areas of medicine and pharmaceuticals in 2014.
